Finding Confidence in Your Job Search: Navigating Work in Québec
Navigating the job market can bring challenges beyond writing a resume or preparing for an interview. For English-speaking youth and young adults in Québec, working and building a professional life in a second language can also bring self-doubt, anxiety, and uncertainty.
This interactive workshop will explore the emotional and personal side of navigating the job search and professional life in French. Participants will reflect on the barriers that can hold them back and explore practical strategies for building confidence, developing emotional resilience, and communicating authentically when applying for jobs, interviewing, networking, and connecting with employers.
The workshop will provide a supportive space to explore questions of confidence, belonging, and identity while developing the inner stability and courage to put yourself forward in Québec’s professional environment.
Please note: This workshop is facilitated in English and is not a French-language class. Participants will not be learning French grammar or vocabulary. Instead, the workshop focuses on the emotional and psychological experience of navigating work and society in a second language.
The workshop will be facilitated by Valerie Amyot, an experienced coach, advisor, teacher, tutor, and evaluator with 10 years of experience supporting individuals in schools, businesses, and community organizations. Valerie specializes in French language resilience coaching for English-speaking Quebecers, helping them move beyond accent shame and limiting beliefs about their second-language abilities toward greater confidence and a stronger sense of linguistic belonging.
