Mini Library Sessions: Promoting Literacy in Early Development
Our mini library sessions in East End daycares are off to an incredible start! Led by a passionate animator and mother, these sessions are creating a love for books and learning in the youngest members of our community.
Each session begins with a cheerful good morning song and a short discussion introducing the day’s theme—like kindness, ABCs, or hibernation. The children love listening to the stories and have a fun break in between to dance, march, and shake out their energy!
At the end of each session, children had the chance to choose a book to borrow based on their interests with the help of our animator! The kids proudly have their library cards stamped before enjoying creative activities like colouring, singing nursery rhymes, or reading together as a group.
These sessions foster a love for reading and encourage creativity, curiosity, and active learning. We would like to thank our partners at the Fraser-Hickson Library and Minibibloplus for their generous book donations, which allow us to bring the love for books to the east end!
