FAMILY PEER SUPPORT WORKER (FPSW)

A Family Peer Support Worker (FPSW) is an individual who has (or has had) significant, long-term experience as a caregiver to someone with serious mental health challenges. Recognizing the challenges families affected by mental illnesses face, the FPSW offers information, support, guidance, advocacy, and referrals according to the needs of families. A collaboration between AMI-Quebec and the CIUSSS, the project draws on the strengths of both parties to ensure that the needs of families affected by mental health problems and illness are properly addressed.
