RESIDENT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR (RDC)
Les Maisons Transitionnelles O3 / On Our Own (O3) is a non-profit community organization in NDG that offers support services and affordable housing to young parents (16 to 30 years old) and their children (0 to 5 years old). Our small, dynamic team works closely together to create high quality, tailored programming to help our families achieve their goals and develop the skills required for independent living after O3. In the past, we have relied on one main RDC (intervention worker) who met all resident mothers monthly. We are now hiring a second Resident Development Coordinator to split our case load and be able to provide more intensive support to all residents.
Using both a clinical and community development approach, the RDC works closely with young parents to support them with goal-setting, personal development, and strengthening parenting skills. This RDC will also lead the planning and delivery of our Increased Employment Support program, providing our residents with increased individual support to explore and enter the job market and increase long-term economic stability.
Responsibilities of the Resident Development Coordinator include:
- Works with each resident to set an Individual Action Plan and to achieve goals
- Leads Increased Employment Support program
- Assists the Selection Committee in selecting and assessing O3 program applicants
- Manages multiple case files in collaboration with other O3 staff and external clinical professionals
- Assesses risk and develops appropriate intervention and follow-up
- Supports with programming and workshop content development, adaptation and evaluation
- Facilitates some of O3’s core programming
- Develops and maintains partnerships with relevant organizations in the community (esp. Employment and housing programs and organizations)
- Supervises clinical students
- Maintains clinical and administrative files, including updating statistical tracking etc.
- Occasionally accompanies residents to external services
- Contributes to the development and implementation O3’s trauma-informed, two-generational, strengths-based, community centred and culturally competent approach
- Collaborates on the adaptation and/or development of internal policy related to client practice (e.g. clinical manual, emergency response policy, etc.)
Required Experience:
- DEC or Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, minimum 3 years experience
- Experience working with young adults, parents and children (0-5)
- Strong English and conversational French (French for trainings, community meetings)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of clinical record keeping and client privacy standards
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Flexible schedule and ability to work some evenings
- Experience working with a culturally diverse and vulnerable populationAssets:
- Experience with restorative justice, conflict resolution processes, or anti-racism approaches
- Understands youth protection system
- Experience with program and/or policy development
- Group facilitation experience
- Knowledge of employability and housing organizations and programs
Position details:
Type: Full-time (35 hours a week), 1 year contract, ideally to become permanent
Start date: as soon as possible (~April 2026)
Compensation: $32-36/hour to be defined based on experience
Location and schedule: Mostly on-site, 1 day/week remote work. Semi-flexible schedule: mostly within regular business hours but flexibility to start early or late; some evening work is required for resident meetings and program delivery (with notice)
Benefits: three weeks vacation (6%), 3 personal days and 5 sick days
