Youth and Community Outreach Coordinator

We provide and implement professional innovative support services to individuals, communities, para-public and public organizations. We also develop and run health, education, socio-cultural, and community economic development programs.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the BCRC is seeking an enthusiastic and community-oriented Youth and Community Outreach Coordinator to support the “Through Our Eyes: Reality, Resilience, and Change” project. This role focuses on engaging Black and visible minority youth, facilitating community dialogue, and supporting interactive workshops and VR storytelling training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community engagement, experience working with youth, and a working knowledge of VR content creation, videography, and audiovisual media to help effectively communicate project messages and foster impactful digital storytelling.

*This is a hybrid position, with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.*

Duties and responsibilities

Community & Youth Engagement:

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with Black and other visible minority youth, community groups, and partner organizations.

Program Support & Facilitation:

  • Assist with the planning and execution of in-school and community-based workshops on hate crimes and anti-Black racism.
  • Coordinate logistics for youth training sessions led by experts, including immersive VR storytelling workshops with guidance from VR Experts.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of resource toolkits and materials during community events and project activities.
  • Help coordinate and create audiovisual content production for project promotions and training sessions, ensuring that digital storytelling elements are engaging and accessible.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator and other team members to ensure alignment of outreach activities with overall project objectives.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of outreach activities, participant engagement, and feedback to inform continuous improvement.
  • Assist in promoting project activities through social media, local community networks, and partner organizations, incorporating visual and multimedia content.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, community development, digital media, social work, education, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in community outreach, youth programming, or related fields.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect authentically with diverse youth and community members.
  • Proficient in organizing and facilitating group sessions, workshops, and community events.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Basic skills or a strong interest in VR content creation, videography, and audiovisual production to support and promote project activities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage part-time responsibilities effectively.
  • Bilingual skills (English and French) are highly desirable.
